Questions

How many footings does a 12x16 deck need?

6 in our plan: 16 / 20 in round, 12 in+ deep, at least 12 in below undisturbed grade or below your frost line.

Do I need a permit for a deck?

Many towns ask for one even for low, free-standing decks. Check with your building department and HOA before you build.
